Spring '09

This image was taken at Cataract Falls, near Marin, CA. I had read about the falls and decided to go check it out and see what there was to photograph. I was amazed as I hiked up the trail and found one incredible shot after another. After spending the day hiking and shooting pictures, I came across this area where the trees, water and hiking path seem to run into one another. The image was shot with a Canon Rebel XS with a 18 to 55mm lens at F18 for 30 sec, iso 100.

This photograph was taken in Bodie, CA. It is a mining ghost town high in the mountains outside the Owens Valley. I spent a couple of hours there shooting. The town is being maintained the way it was when deserted. The wheel table and bucket were there sitting in the field and became part of the shot. I turned it into Black and White because all the grasses and the woods were very close in color. B&W made the objects stand out more. The picture can be seen Feb 5th through March 7th at the Gallery in the Library building.

This is a combination of two pix the first at 5:56 pm the sun has already set. I shot F11 1/25 sec ISO 1000 24-70 F2.8 lens The second shot was 10 minutes later when the was at twilight.I shot F11 1/10 sec. ISO640 same lens. I combined the two using layers erasing the sky from the first pix and using the sky from twilight. This was shot at Devils Golf Course, Death valley CA.

Gas pumps in the ghost town of Bodie Calfornia. The town is being maintained as it was when deserted. One time the town had 10,000 residents. Now just some Forest rangers and workman.
