In this assignment I took several photos in RAW and JPEG.  I brought the RAW from Bridge to Photoshop and made adjustments.  In the first photo I brought the contrast up a lot and the highlights, shadows, vibrance and saturation up.  In the second photo of the street and buildings I used the curves tool in the RAW menu and brought the dark way down.  I then went to the tools and played around with the saturation, vibrance and contrast.  I brought all of these up a little.  It made quite a difference in the comparing the fixed RAW with the original JPEG.
